The Firestorm Development Open-Source License is a dual-licensing of the MIT and 2-clause BSD licenses. It is designed to minimize legal liability to the licensor without compromising the rights of the licensee. Please note that the FDOSL is defined by a hatred of the GNU General Public License. Any GPL contamination compromises the purpose of the FDOSL as a safe, free, gratis license friendly to both open-source and proprietary development and licensing.
In order to make it easier to generate the proper license file, I have
written a small generator,
or you may use the fields below (mouseover and click the copyright year and
copyright holder placeholder text to expose the form input) to configure a
license text for pasting into your project. In order to make your code FDOSL
compliant, all you need to do is to assert your all rights reserved copyright
in every source file, and then include the FDOSL license text in the project
root (usually COPYING or LICENSE). The FDOSL is
written in Markdown, which is a human-readable markup language. If your
hosting service, such as Github, supports Markdown formatting, then you may
use the .md extension, which will cause that service to render
HTML generated from the Markdown text while on that service's web interface.
